Imagica brings home gold from the windy city
- qualifies for first ever TOI World's

by Nathan Meyers

Imagica, The Skating Club of Boston's Theatre on Ice team (Adult Division), swept the 2009 National and International Theatre on Ice Competition in June. The team brought home gold medals in all three events it skated, successfully defending its 2008 titles. In winning the National competition, Imagica has now qualified to compete in the first-ever Theatre on Ice Worlds competition, to be held in Toulouse, France in April of 2010.

Held at The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, IL on June 26-27, 2009, the competition featured five adult teams from around the country. On the first day, Imagica won the 2nd annual National competition with its long program; on the second day, it won the 14th annual International competition with its short and long programs.

Coached by Tasney Mazzarino (completing her fifth year) and Amy Vecchio (completing her first year), Imagica has enjoyed several years of success in the sport. This year's long program, which was also performed at Ice Chips, told an Old West story - featuring miners, cowboys, cowgirls, townsfolk, saloon girls, a gunfight, and even a tumble-weed. The short program used the setting of a gospel church service to illustrate one of this season's required themes, "Living Together."

Imagica will begin its next season in the fall, preparing new programs for the Worlds competition in France and next year's Nationals/Internationals in Troy, Ohio.

Congratulations to Imagica and its 29 adult skaters on their wildly successful season.
