Skatefest 2008

Salvation Army's 16th Annual Benefit Ice Show

Sunday, February 10th at 3pm, Harvard University Bright Arena

For the twelfth year, our own Amanda Farkas is directing the Salvation Army's ice show to benefit Our Place, the Salvation Army's center for homeless children. From local skaters making their mark at the regional level to national and international medallists, many of the best young skaters in the region will be here skating in support of their community. Meet current and future stars of the sport at the autograph signing at the end of the show.

Currently there are over 3,000 homeless children living in Massachusetts. Our Place was established in 1987 as the first licensed day care center for homeless children in the state and serves 38 children between 3 months and 5 years old. The mission of Our Place is to help families break the cycle of homelessness and attain self sufficiency by providing a program that meets the educational, emotional, and spiritual needs of each family member. While their children are enrolled in Our Place, parents have the opportunity to work, seek permanent housing, attend school, receive counseling, volunteer in the center, or attend parent workshops.

Join us for a great afternoon of skating and help support Our Place!

No tickets required. Donations welcomed at the door.
