About Team Boston
Team Boston is in its seventh season representing The Skating Club of Boston. This year, we will compete in the Juvenile, Novice and Junior divisions. Our coach, Rebecca (Becky) Stump, has been coaching synchronized skating since 1986, and is PSA Master rated in synchronized team. In addition to coaching three international teams, Becky has coached various levels of synchro teams which have qualified and medalled at the U.S. Championships for seventeen of the past twenty years. In May, 2001, she was honored to receive the PSA Ranking Level V for her work with the three international synchro teams. For the past six years, Becky has been the PSA Synchronized Team Chair and a member of the PSA Ratings Committee. She is currently on the 2007 PSA Ratings Team.
In addition to Becky, Dawn Ponte will choreograph the warm-up floor routine for the Novice and Junior teams and work with the teams to strengthen their stroking and edge skills. Dawn was a U.S. National Dance competitor and presently coaches Free Skating, Moves In The Field, and Dance. Both coaches are members of the Skating Club of Boston coaching staff.
The synchronized skating program is an important part of the Skating Club of Boston. In May, 2003, U.S. Figure Skating presented The Skating Club of Boston with a Club Recognition Award for "outstanding support of synchronized skating." A special synchro membership allows skaters to participate on the team and to represent the Skating Club of Boston without having to become full members. We have ice time at the club every week for practice.
